Make sure you have the ethernet cable plugged in to port 1 on your router. I saw your question and registered on AV just for you lol.

This is how to reconfigure any router as a Wilress Access Point. Good to have something to work on. Both use the same subnet mask.
Sorry if these are dumb questions! We've migrated the forum software to a new major version. Unplug the ethernet cable, then plug it back in and log back on to setup GUI using It's wired into a spare port on the living room switch and set to AP mode.
I can connect to the Netgear signal, but it's slow and drops intermittently, but I can't connect to the Edimax. The Edimax secondary access point doesn't have a WAN port, only the one LAN port, which serves different functions depending which mode it's configured for.

Now disconnect and then connect to your AP and try going ew-7416aln the web. It's broadcasting loud and clear, but it seems oblivious to anything coming its way other than by wire. Connect to the setup GUI I've tried disabling the wireless signal on the router, so there's only the Edimax in play, but it made no difference.
I've upgraded the Edimax firmware to the latest version, carried out reboots and reset to factory defaults several times. Apologies for being offline so long. For example, if your AP advertises G and your clients only talk B, then they get no link. Can you confirm the difference between the router's IP "range" and "pool"?

Have you tried the Edimax Wizard? Thanks Mickevh, some really useful pointers. I don't fully understand the result but it seems ok: I can detect a strong signal with all my mobile devices and they all try to connect, but fail to obtain an IP address.
When I leave the Edimax fiemware its default IP it doesn't of course show up as an attached device on the router. I think that's about it. Sorry I didn't realize this was for a wired connection.
